About the Portal

The ADOPT-IPM Pest Management Portal is your open access gateway to integrated pest management (IPM) information for pests and diseases of tomato, cabbages, lettuce, wheat and maize in Europe and China. It features browsable lists of preventative, monitoring and chemical and non-chemical control measures to tackle more than 80 pests in Europe and China, including new IPM practices and products developed through the ADOPT-IPM project innovative research. Coming soon, it will also provide performance data to demonstrate how specific combinations of measures (IPM packages) performed in the field in comparison to baseline management practices.

The continuous stream of invasive agricultural pests and chronic re-emergence of key ones prompt for implementation of IPM measures, but often main management methods rely largely on conventional chemical pesticides. Widespread use of pesticides is highlighted as a key threat to human health and wildlife and often leads to pesticide resistance.

The ADOPT-IPM project consortium, consisting of 32 partners in Europe and China, has adapted and optimized IPM measures and developed new practices and products, combining these into cost-effective, environmentally-sound IPM packages.

Use the Portal to find IPM options and view performance data to support decision making when planning your own IPM packages to tackle pests and diseases on your farm.

The Portal is aimed at growers and advisors in Denmark, France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and China who need on-demand information on pest management options. It is particularly useful for those who are trying to move away from reliance on chemical pesticides and want to find out how to combine management options via an integrated approach.

The data within the Portal was compiled by a number of ADOPT-IPM project partners. The lists of IPM options were compiled and verified by AgriNewTech Open in new tab based on contributions from a range of partners as named at the top of each pest page. Performance data for specific IPM packages was collected during field trials and used by Imperial College Open in new tab in their IPM package assessment tool to generate the performance indicator graphs.
