ADOPT-IPM Pest Management Portal Terms Of Use
These Terms and Conditions apply to the use of the ADOPT-IPM Pest Management Portal (“Portal”).If you access or use this Portal, you agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions as provided online at the time of your use. These Terms and Conditions include CABI’s Privacy Notice and any other guidelines, policies, or additional terms or disclaimers that are included on the Portal and which may be updated from time to time. You should not use the Portal if you do not agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
Use of CABI’s Services
Users acknowledge that their unauthorised use or misuse of any CABI-owned or hosted Content and Services (websites, applications, products and services), could cause CABI or other users irreparable harm. Any unauthorised use of any of these Services or other breach of these Terms and Conditions shall automatically terminate any licence or permission granted to you by CABI. In addition, CABI reserves the right, but is not obligated to, investigate any potential violations of its Terms and Conditions and/or any behaviour that is potentially unlawful, and such investigations may involve co-operation with law enforcement authorities.
CABI reserves the right to exercise editorial control over the Content in its Services and users may not use the Services to publish or distribute any information (including software or other content) which is defamatory, abusive, hateful, profane, pornographic, threatening or vulgar, illegal, violates or infringes upon the rights of any other person, contains errors, viruses or other harmful components, or which is otherwise actionable at law.
The availability of CABI’s websites at all times is not guaranteed. In particular, the websites may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance or technical reasons without this giving rise to any claims against CABI.
User Obligations
Users may:
- Use this Portal with respect for other users as well as for CABI.
- Only distribute other people’s personal details if they give their consent and such data may only be used under applicable laws and regulations.
- Use and reuse the content (“Content”) contained in the Portal in accordance with Creative Commons licence CC BY-SA 4.0.
Users must give appropriate credit to people and other third-party providers for the use of their information or data elsewhere, as allowed under applicable laws and regulations, and this should be correctly cited.
Users wishing to reuse Content outside the terms of CC BY-SA 4.0 should contact CABI to obtain written permission (please see the Permissions section below for more details on how to do this).
Prohibited Use
Users may not:
- Use CABI, its logo or any other marks in any way to suggest an affiliation with or endorsement by CABI of any individual, organisation, product, service, or research.
- Download, archive or use the Content in any other way that does not adhere to the CC BY-SA 4.0 licence terms.
- Sell, rent or license CABI’s Content and Services in any medium, or use for the purposes of advertising and promotion, except as otherwise expressly permitted under these Terms and Conditions, or any relevant licence or agreement or authorisation by CABI.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any portion or feature of the Content and Services, any other systems or networks connected to the Services or to any CABI server or third-party servers hosting its Services.
- Probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Services, including but not limited to, CABI’s websites, or any network connected to them, or breach or attempt to breach the security or authentication measures on the Services or any network connected to the Services.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
You may not use content from this Portal, or from CAB International, in combination with an artificial intelligence tool, (including to train an algorithm, test, process, analyse, generate output, and/or develop any form of artificial intelligence tool). You may not give permission to a third party to use content from this Portal, or from CAB International, in an artificial intelligence tool, model, or system (including to train an algorithm, test, process, analyse, generate output, and/or develop any form of artificial intelligence tool).
Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, CAB International and CABI, is the copyright holder for all its Content and Services, including, but not limited to, its databases, internet resources, compendia, books, text, graphics, images, videos, audio, trademarks, logos, computer code, “look and feel”, and other information, in any form or medium, including derivatives thereof, now known or hereafter devised. These intellectual property rights (IPR) owned by CAB International, CABI, , its licensors and other content providers is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property and unfair competition laws. Agreements with CABI do not give other parties the right, title or interest to acquire such IPR other than as expressly provided in the Agreements.
In the context of this Portal, CABI is the copyright holder for the Portal itself, including the user interface, backend databases and computer code. The lists of IPM options provided under Prevention, Monitoring and Control on the pest pages are the intellectual property, including copyright, of the contributing authors named as “Contributors” at the top of these pages. The Contributors are responsible for the technical verification of this information and CABI is not responsible for its accuracy and completeness. The IPM package performance data is the intellectual property of Imperial College London, who derived the data from their assessment tool.
Permissions and Permissions Enquiries
Material published by CABI is subject to all applicable copyright, database protection, and other rights so you will need to seek permission if you wish to re-use any of this material, whether it is in any printed or electronic publication, outside of the terms of the CC BY-SA 4.0 licence. Such material will include, but is not limited to, text, illustrations, tables, charts, photographs or other material, and, depending upon the circumstances, may be re-used for commercial or non-commercial purposes. Whatever the purpose, you must properly acknowledge and reference CABI as the original source of the material thus: Author(s)/Editors(s); Year of publication; Title; Publisher (CAB International, Wallingford, UK).
Requests to reuse content from CABI are now being processed through PLSclear. Please visit www.plsclear.com to complete your request. If you are writing for another publisher who is also a signatory of the STM Permissions Guidelines, please ensure you use the STM workflow on PLSclear. The Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) has also incorporated an STM workflow.
If you are unable to fulfil your permissions request through this service, please email permissions@cabi.org giving clear information about what CABI content you would like to request, including, where applicable, figure or table number, page number, chapter, book title, authors/editors, year of publication, datasheet or factsheet title, number and URL, distribution map title, number and URL. Please state how you would like to reuse the content, including attaching copies of proposed modified content and publication details such as publisher, type of publication, name of publication, estimated date of publication and circulation, languages and territories. While CABI undertakes to process permissions requests in a timely manner, failure to provide all the relevant information could result in lengthy delays in processing such requests. Please note that CABI does not hold the rights to all of the content contained within the Portal, as laid out above in the Copyright section – please do not request permission from CABI to use any items for which CABI is not the stated copyright-holder.

CABI is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK for the purpose of collecting and storing personal information about its customers and subscribers.
