Monitoring

Radars and GPS, GIS, RS analyses are used to monitor and predict adult aphids. Also suction traps are used (Farmer can get information from plant protection station on wheat aphid flight)
Use yellow traps to capture adult aphids (2-3 traps per mu)
Search and count aphids weekly from wheat seeding growth to milk-ripe stage. Count on 15 plants each of 3 to 5 spots along “Z”, walk through field
Action threshold is 3 to 5 aphids per 10 plants on average
